Cinnamon in Hoodoo or Voodoo Love Magic - Easy DIY Spell Casts

hoodoo voodoo cinnamon magic spells
Cinnamon is an herb said to be ruled by either the Sun or by Mercury (sources vary in the opinion of which.) It is used for Venus-ruled love, family and money matters with such frequency that it is sometimes considered to be under her dominion.

True cinnamon is cinnamomum zeylanicum – most cinnamon sold in the US is cinnamomum cassia, but they can both be used interchangeably in magic unless the spell asks for one or both of them specifically. It is an herb considered especially pleasing to the orisha Oshun or Oxum or Ochun, who rules love matters, and who is popularly petitioned by many hoodoo practitioners.

Spell to Bring Back a Lover: Mix powdered cinnamon and sugar. Write out a paper with the target’s name 3 times, and your own name crossed over it 3 times. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over this paper, then set it beneath a burner of Oriental Bouquet incense. Burn this incense over the spiced paper every day for 9 days.

Ochun Attraction Bath Spell: Begin on a Tuesday night. Take five cinnamon sticks, petals from five yellow roses, five drops of Florida Water cologne, five drops of honey, and five drops each from five different colognes (any combination of scents you prefer.) Put them all in a basin with some water, and set it in a place where it will be touched by the first rays of dawn on Wednesday morning. After it has received this light, add the mixture to your bath water, and light a yellow candle in honor of the orisha Ochun (or to honor Our Lady of El Cobre, if you prefer.) Stay in the bath for 30 minutes so the water can soak into your skin. Repeat this bath every Wednesday for a total of five weeks.

Hoodoo Stay At Home Spell: To keep a spouse from leaving or from going out too much, write the names of the couple 9 times each on separate papers, then put the papers together face to face and roll them up into a single tube. Place the paper tube into a bottle and fill it with cinnamon, sugar, honey and holy water. Make sure the bottle is well stoppered, and hide it under the back step or bury it just outside the back of the house.

Bring Back Lover Magic Spell: Take a man’s shoe or woman’s shoe (as suits the gender of the target) and fill it with a name-paper of your target, sugar, honey and cinnamon. Place a pink candle on top of the spice mixture, so it is sticking out of the shoe. At noon each day, speak the target’s name aloud and burn the candle for 1 hour, repeating till they return.

The Intranquil Spirit

(EDIT: Up to date information about the Intranquil Sprit can be found in my book  The Intranquil Spirit , available on Amazon.  This post has some incomplete information which is clarified in the book.) The Intranquility spell is, unfortunately, the first resort of many a rejected lover. In some ways it makes sense -- the more unhappy and forlorn one is about a breakup, the better this idea of making the other partner feel just as much so starts to sound. Unfortunately, this spell is often not well suited to a case. The purpose of the standard Intranquility spell is to have the person be tormented by the spirit until they make contact with you, or whomever the spell is being cast for. This means that if a person is already in good contact with their ex OR if they're one of those people who cannot restrain themselves from initiating contact, then this already is probably not the right spell for that case. If you've had an Intranquility spell cast and you make contac...

Job Spells in the Internet Age - Hoodoo Voodoo Success and Steady Work Magic

We exist in an unprecedented era. There is now internet , a creation which allows text and images to be instantly transferred from person to person. People can have jobs and never ever see their employer or go to an office -- they might not even live in the same state or the same country as the person they work for! This has an impact on traditional magic spells. Most of your classic old time hoodoo "get a job" or "get business" spells assume you will be interacting directly with the boss or with customers. Some traditional operations of this type include: To have a successful job interview, wash your face with sugar before going to interview. To get a job, sprinkle some salt on the person interviewing you and on the floor of the business. To get customers, wash the floor of the shop with a mixture of your urine, sugar and bluing. For a successful job application, dress your resume with powder such as Steady Work or Van Van . For business success, sprinkle magneti...

Best Days of the Month for Magical Workings - Old Time Grimoire Magic for Successful Witchcraft

There is always a fascination among witchcraft practitioners with the art of timing -- the belief that performing a spell at a particular hour or day will give the spell an edge, such as the Planetary Hours and their derivative the Voodoo Hours  used to decide when a magical working will be performed. Naturally, there are also beliefs about the best days to perform spells. This listing comes from a Renaissance era grimoire, but which contains spells that date back to Greco-Roman era. (The book is for sale with the translation The Book of Oberon, though you can read the direct transcription for free via Esoteric Archives. ) This is using standard calendar dates, so 1 is the 1st of the month, 31 is the 31st of the month, etc. Good to begin all manner of things For hate and enchantment against enemies "Right naught" -- don't plan for magical work on this day To enchant and conjure wicked spirits For invisibility, and enchant against enemies For works that regard theft an...

Out With the Old, In With the Enchanting New! Discover the Spellbinding Changes That Will Ignite Your Inner Witch

Those who have been following us here at the Spellcaster's Source blog for a long time might find some of their favorite old posts about general magic , free spells , witchcraft articles and so forth have disappeared from the web.  For a few years I've been trying to tidy up the blog, which has been online since 2009. It's been through different iterations of my main website, from Talia's Tarot to Lucky Temple to Hoodoo Online . As requirements to make the witchcraft blog "mobile friendly" also had the unfortunate effect of making it more difficult to search through the posts, there was good reason to simplify the content. It had built up over 600 separate posts at its peak, with no good way to search through them except by keyword. Originally I intended to delete nothing, but only to merge posts about similar subjects so they'd become easier to find.  However, as I've been going through everything, I've been finding more and more old posts that w...

Paper-in-Shoe Spells

A popular and very traditional hoodoo spell, often used for any situation where you need to control someone with magic , is the namepaper-in-shoe spell. It's very easy: you write the target's name 3, 7, or 9 times on a paper (depending on intent and who's giving instruction) then fold it up, sometimes after dressing it with oils or powders, then put it in your shoe. This "keeps the person underfoot" or "stomps out the trouble" or "puts pressure on them" or any other number of metaphors. I have had this work several times over the years. In one instance, I was working for a very unpleasant boss, on a short-term job. It was the last day, and I only had about 3 hours of work left on the project; and I wanted him to up my pay for the day since it almost wasn't worth the trip across town for the amount he was paying me, for only 3 hours. He was very reluctant. So I wrote his name 3 times on a 5-dollar bill he'd given me, and dusted it...
